My name is Jennifer Spears. I am currently a graduate art therapy student at Emporia State University. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in pre-art therapy with an emphasis in painting from ESU in May 2008. I am currently a second year graduate Art Therapy student at ESU. I plan on graduating with my Master’s Degree in Art Therapy in May of 2010. I have a graduate assistantship through ESU in the admissions office supervising the undergraduate telecounselors. In my graduate career, I have interned at the American Stroke Foundation with Naturally Yours Inc. I currently intern at First Step at Lakeview in Lawrence working with women who have problems with addiction and at Broadmoor Technical Center in the Shawnee Mission school district working with adolescents who struggle with emotional and behavioral issues. I also have the challenge of finishing my masters project this semester (I will explain the details of my project in a later post). I love what I do and hope that within my work I can help at least one person. If I do that, then all of this hard work and stress will be worth it. I thrive on the challenges clients give me and learn as much from them as I hope they learn from me!
